Young Women's Personal Progress Awards

In our church we have a program called the Young Women Personal Progress Award.  They give the girls 6 years to try to complete all the goals associated with the award.  Some finish at 6 years, others sooner.  It's a fabulous program that teaches the girls skills they need in life in preparation to becoming adults.  It's a hard program to complete & is similar to what the boy scouts do to get their Eagle Scout Award.

To complete the award the girls have to complete 6 goals (like merit badges) for each of the 8 core values (faith, divine nature, individual worth, knowledge, choice & accountability, good works, integrity, & virtue). . . that's 48 goals total.  Once those goals are complete, they have to choose & carry out a project that takes 10 or more hours to complete that go along with each of the 8 core values.  That's over 80 hours worth of project time.

Cadence & Lorien both finished their requirements for their Personal Progress Award in May.  Words cannot even express how very proud I am of them.  They are incredible young women & have worked very hard over the last few years.

Because they completed the program, they were recognized in a special ceremony for Personal Progress with the other young women in our church congregation.

Taya has not completed her full award yet, but she is working hard to complete it just like her sisters. So far she has completed all the goals & projects for both Faith & Divine Nature & was recognized at the ceremony for those two categories.  All three of my girls make my heart swell.

Taya completed everything required for the Faith & Divine Nature sections of Personal Progress & was awarded with her blue & white ribbons at the banquet.

Cadence & Lorien were awarded several ribbons as well as their final award, certificate, & pendant.

After the ceremony, the girls got to show off some of the things they did for their projects so everyone can see what they did to complete Personal Progress.

Lorien showed off her hemmed shorts & handmade pajama pants she made for her Choice & Accountability project.  She chooses to dress modestly.  Some of the other projects she completed were performing in Annie, learning to sew, learning to do genealogy & family history, journal writing, learning to plan & cook meals, etc.

Cadence brought her pioneer dress she wore for the pioneer trek.  Some of her projects were sewing pioneer clothes & participating in a pioneer reenactment, coding a music learning app for iPhones, learning to sew, journal writing, etc.

I'm SO very proud of my girls & all that they are accomplishing in their lives.  They are good girls & are learning how to become GOOD PEOPLE.  I can't wait to see what the world has in store for them.
