Israel - Day 6 - Christmas Market

After we went back to our hotel & had dinner, we put all the kids to bed & the adults went on an adventure.  Since Lorien & Jenna are pretty much "adults," we let them come with us.  Our first task was to figure out how to buy tickets for the bus line to get us downtown.  I swear to you that those ticket machines hated us.  First, it refused to take any of our American cards.  Next we tried to use our Israeli bills & it kept spitting those out too.  So we were left with shekel coins only.  We'd put them in one at a time & the ticket machine would completely shut down when we were getting ready to put in our last coin to pay for the ticket.  It was infuriating.  Somehow we all managed to get it done eventually, but it took forever.

We took the bus to the Christian Quarter of Old Jerusalem & sure enough, right through the New Gate of Jerusalem was a beautiful Christmas Market.  It was SO exciting.

We all split up & decided to meet back up together in an hour.  Trek & I had a blast exploring the old city.  We got off the beaten path & found our way to a little street named "Santa Claus Lane" & sure enough, Santa Claus' house was there in the old city of Jerusalem.  It was the cutest thing ever.

We wandered the streets & just enjoyed the scenery.  Jerusalem is such a beautiful city.  We loved everything we found in every alleyway & every twist & turn.

On our way out we grabbed some hot cocoa & an awesome plate of different cheeses, nuts, & mustard.  It was delicious.  We caught the bus back to our hotel full, happy, & excited that we found & explored one more Christmas market this year.
