Israel - Day 6 - Mount of Olives

The Mount of Olives was our next stop.  I didn't realize how big the Mount of Olives was.  It stands North & East of the Temple Mount.  The majority of the mount is taken up by the Jewish Cemetery that has thousands of tombs dating back to BC to now.  BYU Jerusalem sits on the top in a beautiful spot overlooking the Old City.  The Mount of Olives is also the home of several churches & the beautiful Garden of Gethsemane.

Zechariah 14: 3-4, 9
"Then shall the Lord go forth, & fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.  And his feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, & the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east & toward the west, & there shall be a very great valley, & half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, & half of it toward the south. . . And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, & his name one."

We drove to the very top to take a picture overlooking all of Jerusalem.  It was absolutely beautiful.
