The camp was incredible. It was lit up as we came in like a beacon welcoming us home. There were 6 large tents conjoined by little red carpets with a fire pit in the middle, then on the far side was a giant tent that would hold everybody for dinner. We got there & our luggage & belongings were already situated in our tents (we left them with Hmed at the edge of the desert, then someone loads them up on 4 wheelers & drives them to the camp). They met us in the big tent with tea/water & snacks, then had us clean up in our tents before dinner. Inside our tents were 3 or 4 beds, a toilet, a sink, & a shower. Talk about “glamping” in style. They also had blanket tunics for all of us to wear to help us stay warm.
We ate dinner inside the big tent. . . another 3 courses: Salad or omelette, Tajin, & Flan. It was delicious again.
Then we met outside to watch the stars. They turned out all the lights in camp & it was the most incredible sight I’ve ever seen. I’ve never seen the stars like this. It was insane. You could see every star in the sky & the Milky Way was incredible. We spent an hour just pointing out constellations & stars. I could have spent all night watching the stars like that. After star gazing, some of the native desert dwellers came & lit a fire in the fire pit & we sang & danced around the fire for about an hour. They played drums & African tambourines & we all joined in. It was really fun. Then we went to bed.
